BACKGROUND

We have an established project team on site, developing avionics software for a leading aircraft manufacturer.  Our contract has recently been renewed, and the task load continues to grow.  Four avionics systems software test engineers are required.  We are the UK subsidiary of a successful, high-growth European company.  These positions are an ideal opportunity to join an exciting organisation which is able to offer interesting technical work, with career prospects.

The success of the company has been based on innovation in mission and business critical systems, and an uncompromising approach to software quality.  The company has a strong record of developing its staff, and staff turnover is very low.

Terms and conditions are excellent, with a package of around £40k depending on skills and experience and a comprehensive relocation package negotiable if required.  There is also an employee share scheme as part of the benefits package.  The positions are available immediately.

MAIN DUTIES

Developing testing strategies, writing test specifications, developing test schedules , writing test scripts and generating test reports.

•    Test specification using the UML tool.
•    Subsystem integration and formal testing
•    Reviews and documentation as required.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Successful Software Test Engineers will have a proven track record in software testing and will have been involved in software development in the aerospace industry. Previous experience of working in avionics is essential.

Candidates from an Ada development environment would be preferred but those with experience of C++ will be considered.

Essential skills and experience include:

•    Writing software test cases from use cases
•    Running tests using a remote debugger
•    Avionics systems
•    Telelogic DOORS requirements management tool
•    UML notations – particularly use cases
•    Extensive demonstrable experience of working in embedded real time systems
•    Particularly motivated to work in the area of high dependability software development
•    Capable of producing documentation to a high standard.  

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

•    A numerate first degree
•    Greenhills Ada Multi IDE
•    Artisan tool experience
•    DXL
•    Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
•    Experience of working to at least one such standard as CENELEC 50128, DO-178B, DO-254, Mil Std 498 or ECSS-40 is highly desirable.
•    A current UK security clearance would be an asset.  It must be possible to clear those not already holding a clearance.
